There may be just a few shopping days left before Christmas, but finding that perfect last minute gift is easy at  Rue Pigalle.

Here are just a few gift ideas for that special person on your list.

The Toronto Star loved our gold-plated ceramic mugs, cups and saucers by the Berlin designer Kuhn Keramik, recently including it in their Hollywood glamour gift list.

We are open every day this week 11am to 7pm, right up until the evening of Friday December 23rd.  We will be closed from December 24, reopening on January 10.

Wishing you all wonderful holidays, and a happy, healthy and stylish New Year!

...for 2011 of course!

How could I abandon you after the phenomenal year we’ve just had?  I have made more friends in the past 12 months than in the past 49 ½ years (yes - I know ... don’t remind me). You have inspired me, challenged me, advised me, encouraged me, supported me.  I have shared in your successes and your battles, I have laughed and cried with you, I have met your partners and your children, we have partied and worked together. The energy and the fulfilment are beyond words.

So it is from the bottom of my heart that  wish you all a year of personal enrichment, success, happiness and good health.
Je vous adresse  mes voeux les meilleurs et les plus chaleureux pour cette nouvelle annee

And 2012 is going to be just as much fun and exciting –

First Rue Pigalle will be at the Wedding Co bridal show, January 13-15 at the Carlu. . http://www.theweddingco.com/2011/12/the-wedding-co-show-jan-13-15-2012/

A  close collaboration  with French and Italian designers has resulted in stunning collections – we will bring a new dimension to bridal jewelry in Toronto .

My pet peeve with bridal jewelry is that it is often timid and cannot be worn after the big day – well, Canadian brides unite! It is  YOUR  day -  wear whatever pleases YOU -  and  enjoy it for years to come.  These pieces  can be worn by anyone -
Even if you are not about  to become a bride (or a mother in law) I would encourage you to visit the show – everything is so enchantingly beautiful –  and ticket are only $20.

Our first cultural event of the year will take place at George restaurant on January 16th.

We will welcome Phil Fontaine, Former National Chief, Assembly of First Nations, as Verity Lecture series’ first speaker for 2012.

In a special presentation Mr. Fontaine will speak about “Mining rights: the difficult balance between ending aboriginal poverty and preserving cultural identity – a First Nation perspective”.

A Q&A will follow moderated by Victoria Grant a member of the  Teme-Augama Anishnabai community, loon clan, and a registered member of the Temagami First Nation. As President of Moving Red Canoe, Victoria is working with mining and power companies as well as Bands on facilitation and mediation projects.
We hope you can join us for what promises to be an engaging and timely discussion on the future of Canada's First Nations.
George restaurant, 111 Queen street East
Drinks at 6pm
Dinner at 7pm
Cost: $110 inclusive
RSVP: Verity Concierge at concierge@verity.ca or 416.368.6006 x 221

There was a very exciting development this year in the world of fashion – the first Tel Aviv fashion show. An opportunity to discover some amazing designers and see our protégés being recognised. Below are photos of Noritamy’s show – her new collection promises to be breathtaking. I have also included a photo of Elinor Avni, the designer behind Noritamy.

Elinor is the young woman on the right. I will be seeing her in the spring when I visit Israel after Paris.

I was very saddened to read of the passing of  George Whitman,   the owner of “Shakespeare and company”  bookstore in Paris. I remember spending many weekends in this magical space reading, chatting, meeting some extraordinary people. I never met an angel but maybe I did not look hard enough - http://www.shakespeareandcompany.com/

And finally for some fun – photos of the latest pieces to hit our shelves – BTW, men are particularly behind in their shopping this year. Maybe they  need some “encouragement” – I’ll leave it to you to  decide what is appropriate...

Have a fabulous holiday season – remember that we will be closed from December 24th 2011 to January 10th 2012.

Celebrating the season in style, from the comfort of home

Finally, after the whirl of holiday parties and dinners, many of us will be very grateful that we can enjoy a comfortable celebration at home.

Pieces that are easy to wear - though not short on style - are perfect for such an occasion.

Bracelets by Derome Brenner, with their smooth links made from cellulose acetate, are rich in colour and sheen.  They may have collaborated with the likes of Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Dior, but their bracelets and rings are decidedly everyday chic - and are featured at leading design stores the world over, including the Victoria & Albert museum shop.

We're open every day leading up to the holidays to make it easy for you to pick up any last minute gifts: Monday - Saturday 11:00am to 7:00pm and Sunday 12:00pm to 5:00pm.
